How this random number generator works

Enter the lowest and highest numbers you want and how many numbers to generate. Each number is picked independently, and every whole number in your range has the same chance of being chosen. Both the minimum and the maximum can appear.

Good uses

• Picking a random sample of rows or customers to check
• Choosing a winner in a small giveaway or quiz
• Making test data for a spreadsheet or program
• Assigning people to groups at random

Things to know

• Numbers can repeat. Each pick is independent, like rolling a dice again. If you need unique numbers, generate a few extra and remove duplicates.
• Not for security. The tool uses your browser's standard random function. It is fine for everyday use, but do not use it for passwords, keys or lotteries with real money.

In code, you can do the same thing in Python with random.randint(1, 100), or get unique numbers with random.sample(range(1, 101), 10).
